The Caves

There was something following you, you were certain of it. But glancing behind you did nothing more than generate some giggles. Finally, tired of the game you just plop down to the floor to wait. Either your "shadow" would get bored or you would. You decided to see who had the most patience.

Turns out you did. From a ledge above your head, a small yellow dragon whorling peeked over and said "Hello!" while giggling.

He was a little thing, small enough for you to hold. You reach out your arms to pick him up when a female dragon's voice said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you...."

You twist your head around, arms still outstretched towards the little one. The female was a long lithe blue dragon with a bright yellow mane.

Thus seeing you distracted, the little one got a good bite at one of your arms and dashed off before you could retaliate. "I warned you. Imp looks cute but his bite is worse than his bark. I hope he hasn't injured you too deeply. The scent of your blood may bring others that are willing to do more damage than he."

You quickly pull out a hankerchief from your pocket and bind the bleeding bite marks. "Hmm, well I wouldn't go in that direction, even wrapped up like that. There are dragons down there that can scent blood still flowing within ones veins. Best head over there."

You thank her, hoping she was trustworthy, and ask her name before she left. "Terna," a male voice said. "And that tale of blood scenting dragons is one of the fairy kind. She just doesn't want you wandering close to her caves." The female glared at the newcomer and then slunk off.

"I am Zormak, a dragon whorling like Terna and the Imp. But for the sake of harmony in these passageways, perhaps take her advice, or else she'll never forgive me if she finds you poking about her lair."
